Depending upon several factors such as square footage, height and condition of your ceilings our company provides a one day service of removing your popcorn and retexturing your ceilings with an elegant hand skip trowel texture or a texture of your choice. The light hand skip trowel texture is one of the most popular textures that is going in custom remodeled homes. It not only enhances the appearance of your ceilings for you to enjoy while living in your home but it provides a definite selling feature as well as a profitable upgrade when selling your home. Whether your home is fully furnished or vacant (discount price), we take every precaution necessary to keep your home and furnishings safe and clean.
JOB PROCESS:
STEPS THAT WE TAKE WHEN DOING POPCORN REMOVAL AND RETEXTURE:
*** Before we arrive we ask the customer to remove all objects off the top shelves of the closets, take down any picture frames that may fall off the walls and move any small objects that may fall over and break.***
Step 1 – Access the job and move furniture if needed:
Upon arrival at your home, our first step is to walk the job, measure the square footage (if an estimate was given over the phone), move any small objects that may fall over and break and move any large furniture that may obstruct our working area.
Step 2 – Hang plastic to cover all flooring, walls and furniture:
Our second step is to apply a 2inch masking tape with contractors plastic to the top of the walls just below the ceilings in the rooms that we will be removing the popcorn (allowing the plastic to drape down making the room to appear to be in a bubble.) We also cover your flooring and any furniture that remains in these rooms. This process will help to keep your home dust free. During this process certain wall coverings, such as wallpaper and wall paint may be exposed to damage. Our company will take every precaution to avoid any damage during this process.
Step 3 - Remove the existing popcorn:
After draping the plastic on the walls, floors and furniture, we will apply a light mist to soften the popcorn for easier removal. Our experienced technicians will then use a 6” knife to scrape the popcorn off, being very careful not to damage either the ceiling tape or drywall.
Step 4 – Repair the ceilings as needed:
Once the popcorn is removed we will repair any damaged drywall that is caused by removing the popcorn to ensure a smooth surface. We will re-tape and coat (with all purpose joint compound) all nails, joints and damaged drywall areas before applying a hand skip trowel texture.
Step 5 - Retexture the ceilings:
After removing the popcorn, taping and coating the joints we will apply a light hand skip trowel texture to all areas. Other textures that are offered are a santé fe, light or medium skip trowel, knock down, etc. If the customer wishes to choose another texture we are able to match any texture.
Step 6: Paint the Ceilings:
One thing that makes us different from other companies is that we provide an established paint crew that we are able to coordinate the job with so that the paint can be done the very next day. After removing the popcorn off your ceilings and applying a new texture the ceilings will need to dry over night. The next day we will come back and apply one coat of Killz II primer and two coats of Frazee paint products (customer to pick color of choice). The most popular color going on ceilings today is a Swiss Coffee Flat or a White Shadow Flat. We do not spray on our paint, we apply it by rolling it on to get a thicker coat and ensure full coverage.
Step 7 – Clean the inside and outside of your home:
At the end of each working day we clean the interior of your home by removing the debris and plastic before vacuuming the entire home. Before leaving the job we will rinse down your walkway and any areas that we may have trailed debris out of the house. We will remove and haul away all trash and debris at no charge. Our company is known for our cleanliness. At the end of the job you will never even know we were in your home except for your new ceilings.
