Services: Among the services offered by Micro Shop are malware (virus, spyware, adware, etc.) removal, printer repair, and computer problem diagnosis, repair, and upgrades for both desktop and notebook computers. Malware Removal Malware (malicious software) removal accounts for a the majority of our service business, which speaks to the scope of the problem. Malware includes, but is not limited to viruses, worms, trojans, backdoors, spyware, adware, and rouges. See our malware page for more information. Malware removal is billed at our standard hourly rate. The typical cost for malware removal is currently $112.88 ($105.00 + tax). Please note this is only the typical charge, not a flat rate. A more severe infection could result in a 2 hour labor charge ($140 + tax), while a more rare moderate infection might result in only a 1 hour labor charge ($70 + tax). Computer problem diagnosis, repair and upgrades All service work is billed at our standard inhouse rate of $70 per labor hour (plus tax). The minimum charge for any service is $45.00 + tax ($48.38). For example, if service only incurred 30 minutes of labor, the charge would be $45.00 + tax, not $35.00 + tax. Service is billed in 15 minute increments. A minimum charge of $120.00 applies for service on any notebook PC that will opening the case to access the mainboard. For example, if service only incurred 1.5 hours of labor, the charge would be $120.00 + tax, not $105.00 + tax. Service is billed in 15 minute increments. The minimum charge is typically collected at the time the hardware is left for service, with any balance due at the time of pickup. The prepayment of the minimum fee may be waived for existing accounts.
