What is Tae Kwon Do?
Tae Kwon Do is a physical and mental exercise with the goal of harmonious existence of man within himself and in nature. It is an approach toward living which attempts to achieve the individual's greatest potential by unifying the body and mind.
Thus, the principles you learn through your body will be actively interpreted for application to everyday life. Promotion in rank involves mastery and performance of physical technique, completion of a goal setting statement and a written essay. At H.M.D. Academy Chicago, the martial artist develops the physical and mental aspects of the self in harmony with one another. |

Services:
If you are interested in H.M.D. Academy, you may participate in two free introductory lessons. This will provide you with some martial arts experience, an understanding of the cooperative atmosphere of H.M.D. Academy and some reference points to recognize if you are researching other programs. It will also allow us to meet one another and through our workouts, I will be able to recommend a program that would best suit you. Blair Sarkiss holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and is currently the Vice President of the Moo Do Federation. After completing his studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Mr. Sarkiss pursued a career as a full time martial artist committed to teaching Tae Kwon Do as an educational activity and means of personal development rather than as a competitive sport. In 1995, he established an academy in St. Joseph, IL and continued his involvement at the university level, becoming Head Instructor in 1997-98. In 2000, he founded H.M.D. Academy Chicago in the Lakeview neighborhood. In 2008, Mr. Sarkiss' programs will also be offered at Chicago Public School's Nettlehorst Elentary, Sacred Heart School and Brickton Montessori School. |
